A $900 award has been endowed by friends and colleagues in recognition of Joan Ryan, one of the founders of the Native Indian Teacher Education Program (NITEP) at UBC, for a graduating NITEP student with good academic standing who has exemplified volunteerism, persistence and perseverance in completing the Bachelor of Education degree, while demonstrating commitment to the growth of First Nations education and participating in university and community activities. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education in consultation with the NITEP Committee.
