1 award, $500; selected annually by a committee of Criminology faculty members; to be awarded to a Criminology student deemed to have written the best paper during the academic year, for a Malaspina Criminology course, on a security issue. Appropriate topics may include, but are not limited to: public & private security (and issues relating to the surrendering of personal rights), crime prevention through environmental design, residential crime prevention programs, neighbourhood / block watch, citizens on patrol, crime displacement, situational crime prevention, computer crime, and identity theft. A student interested in being considered for the award must submit the paper s/he would like the committee to consider, to the Chair of the Criminology department by April 1st. Funds issued in April.
