The award is made to a student entering the penultimate or final year in the Faculty of Forestry who combines Russell's admirable qualities and who demonstrates a similar dedication to the endeavours of the Forestry Undergraduate Society and its members. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Forestry Undergraduate Society.
