-Preference given to descendants of the original pioneers (early 1900's) who held title to land within the present boundaries of the Special Areas Board, Hanna, Alberta - proof necessary
-If no 'descendant' applicant qualifies, the award will be open to students who have attended a high school within the Special Areas Board's jurisdiction - Altario, Cessford, Consort, Coronation, Hanna, Oyen, Youngstown
