Richard Lewar Scholarships
Our highest awards are our prestige scholarships - 10 Chancellor's Scholarships, 5 Nortel Networks Scholarships of Excellence, 6 Richard Lewar Scholarships, 2 Cognos Scholarships, and Riordon Scholarship. For all prestige scholarships, you'll need an admission average of 90 percent or better - the selection committee will also assess the range of your community or secondary school activities. All these scholarships can be continued each year that you are a full-time student, provided that you maintain an A- standing. If you lose your scholarship in one year it can be regained in future years. One application form is used for all the prestige awards and must be submitted by March 1.
The L.U. French Immersion Scholarships
Value: $500/ea. Recipients: students of Ontario secondary school French immersion programs, based on academic standing. Laurentian University Application for Entrance Awards required.
Mount Arrowsmith Rhododendron Society Award
1 award, $1,000; available to full time students residing in School District #69 or #70, who are enrolled in the Horticultural Technician program. Award based on demonstrated academic achievement; financial need may also be considered. No application necessary. Funds issued in June.
William B. Somerville Memorial Award
1 award, $500; available to students in the Heavy Duty Mechanics program, who have achieved a minimum "B" average; based on financial need and faculty recommendation. No application necessary. Funds issued upon graduation.
The Laura Baldwin Scholarship (H)
To be awarded to a student registered in a program in English who, in the judgment of the Department of English and Cultural Studies, has submitted an original literary work or poem that demonstrates the highest degree of literary excellence.
