The scholarship is awarded to a student entering third or fourth year in the Department of Theatre, who has demonstrated an aptitude and dedication for technical theatre and who intends to pursue a career in the field from which Mike received so much satisfaction. The award is made on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Theatre.
Selection is based on academic standing in secondary school and/ or post-secondary studies. Other factors may be taken into consideration such as participation in school activities, community involvement and demonstrated leadership qualities.
