The Howard P. Whidden Scholarship (O)
To be awarded to a student who has completed six units of French and who shows ability and promise in the use of the French language. The recipient will study at a Quebec university during the summer.
Travel Scholarship applications are due February 15th.
Paul Scott Memorial Scholarship
An annual $750 award to a third- or fourth-year Humanities (English, French, Philosophy or Music) major/concentration student. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and demonstrate financial need.
Canadian Institute of Forestry Scholarship
1 award, $500; provided by the Southern Vancouver Island Chapter of CIF for first or second year Forest Resources Technology students combining academic achievement, good citizenship, sports involvement and participation in forestry awareness programs. No application necessary. Funds issued in March.
Nanaimo Home Support Association Awards
2 awards, $250 each; for students enrolled in the Home Support Resident Care Attendant program at the Nanaimo Campus; based on demonstrated clinical and academic excellence, leadership and the recommendation of the department. No application necessary. Funds issued at graduation, (February and June)
Karr History Scholarship
1 award, $350; awarded to a returning 4th year student, majoring in History, who has achieved the highest gpa in their 3rd year of studies. No application necessary. Funds awarded as a tuition credit for the fall term.
The Colilli Family Bursary
Donated by the family of Dr. Paul Colilli, professor in the Department of Modern Languages. Value: $500. Recipient: a full-time student entering any year of the Italian Studies degree program, on the basis of financial need and Ontario residency as defined by OSAP. Application required.

Kenneth G. Young Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student in the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, on the recommendation of the Faculty.
Community Prize for Chinese Studies
This prize is made on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Asian Studies, to a student majoring in Chinese language or in Asian Area Studies with emphasis on China.
