President's Award for Excellence

The President's Award for Excellence was established in 1988-1989, with funds endowed by the Sudbury District Boys' Home Charitable Trust, to recognize a Canadian student of the University who has demonstrated excellence in writing a major paper, and in applying her/his leadership qualities. The competition is open to all students (Canadian citizens) registered in an undergraduate program at the Sudbury campus of the University during the current academic year. A student may receive the prize only once. The essay must be an original work of quality writing in English or French that contains a thorough argument on the topic combined with novel insights and ideas. The essays are judged on originality and analysis, content, organization, style and format. The winner of each contest receives a cash prize of $2,500 and the runner-up is awarded $1,000.
