Established by the family and friends of the late Sylvain Dugas, this scholarship, valued at $500, is awarded to a student who has been actively involved in the French student newspaper, L'Orignal dechaine, for one year, who has occupied the role of editor for another year, and has met the conditions of the AEF throughout the entire period. Criteria also include full-time enrolment, AEF membership, high academic standing and financial need. The recipient is chosen by a selection committee made up of representatives from the AEF, the family and the Student Awards Office. If the scholarship is not awarded in any given year, it will be awarded the following year. Deadline for application is March 31. The scholarship will be awarded as long as funds permit.
