Dan Gardiner Award
Recipients are selected on the basis of extra-curricular involvement, financial need and academic performance. Candidates must be undergraduates entering the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration who have at least 27 credits of course work still to be completed before graduation. Candidates must apply to the Faculty each year by February 15. The award is made by nomination of a selection committee, at least one member of which is appointed by the Commerce Undergraduate Society, and the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration.
Warner Hewer Newton Memorial Award & Purchase Prize
1 award, $250; available to full-time first-year students in the Visual Arts Diploma program who will be returning for second year and who attended high school in Nanaimo; for academic achievement and promise in the field. No application necessary. Funds issued in April.
Carol Matthews Community Service Award
1 award, $300; for continuing students in Human Services programs, who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community involvement, community service, and leadership qualities and skills. No application necessary. Funds awarded as a tuition credit for the fall term.
The Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. Bursaries
Value: $750/ea. Recipients: full-time students entering any year of any program, on the basis of financial need and Ontario residency as defined by OSAP. Application required.
Christie-Steinmetz Award
A copy of the book "The Steinmetz Era" to a second year student in Electrical Engineering on the basis of academic performance and demonstration of exceptional promise as an engineer. Awarded on the recommendation of the Department. Value: $650.
Engineering Institute of Canada (Associate Section, Montreal Branch) Prizes
Two prizes for the best and second best papers in any branch of engineering presented at the Annual Students' Night sponsored by the Student Guidance Committee. Details may be obtained from the Faculty representative of the Engineering Institute of Canada. Value: $50 and $25.

Established in 1967 by the Charles H. Ivey Foundation in memory of the first Licentiate graduate (violin) of the Music Faculty. Awarded to a talented student to further his or her musical education. Preference is given to string instrument students. Estimated value: $3,000.

Leon Fus Memorial Prize
A prize of $500 is awarded to the best student in Polish studies (language, literature or history). The prize endowed by his family and Polish and Canadian friends, is awarded on the recommendation of the Department of Slavonic Studies.

Meakin Family Award
The award is offered to an undergraduate student in Real Estate with good academic standing who has demonstrated strong leadership skills through extra-curricular activities. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration.
Helen Russell McKechnie Scholarship
This scholarship of $350 is awarded on the recommendation of the School of Nursing to the woman student entering the final undergraduate year who is considered to be the most deserving and meritorious.
Master of Pest Management Graduate Entrance Scholarship
One award for a student entering a graduate degree program leading to the Master of Pest Management degree in the Centre for Environmental Biology.
Export Development Canada Scholarship in International Studies
A $3,000 scholarship awarded by the Centre for International Business Studies to a student entering the third year of the Commerce programme majoring in International Business. A work term at EDC in Ottawa is also part of the scholarship. Application is required by department.
