The award is made to a student entering fourth year, who has demonstrated a particular interest in, and an enthusiasm for hardrock geology, has through his/her personal qualities contributed to the overall benefit of fellow students, and has participated in activities such as those of the G.M. Dawson Club. The award is made on the recommendation of the Department of Geological Sciences. Preference is given to candidates demonstrating financial need. Academic excellence will not be a prerequisite in the selection of the winner.
