The scholarship is awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine to a student in the Department of Paediatrics who has shown outstanding ability in clinical paediatrics and demonstrates knowledge, dedication and skills consistent with the attributes of Dr. Whitelaw.
Selection is based on academic standing in secondary school and/ or post-secondary studies. Other factors may be taken into consideration such as participation in school activities, community involvement and demonstrated leadership qualities.
