First Nations & Indigenous Black Students Entrance Scholarship


-The scholarships are open to First Nations and indigenous Black residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island who are entering Dalhousie for the first time.

-An indigenous Black person is one who a) is the direct offspring of parents, at least one of whom is of African descent; b) was born of parents living in one of the
Maritime provinces at the date of birth; and, c) whose African'Canadian parent(s) was (were) born in Canada.

-In accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part II, Section 35(2), a First Nations applicant is an Indian, Inuit or Métis person of Canada, or a person who is accepted by one of the First Nations of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island as a member of their community.

-Students must have been offered admission to Dalhousie and will normally have a high school admission average of 80% or higher to be eligible. Students with previous post'secondary work must have a cumulative average of 3.0 (B) or higher.
